An Artist’s logbook
A creative companion for tracking your artistic journey
An Artist’s Logbook was the answer to a problem I had. I like to keep notes on my paintings – not just on if they sold or not, but on the process of the painting. Sometimes on the steps I took; or on the techniques I used; or even on what I liked or didn’t like, and what I might try different if I did it again.
Every painting’s notes would be a little different. The problem was that I was very disorganized about it. Some notes were just in my head. I kept some on scraps of paper I taped to the wall while I was painting. A few I actually did write in a notebook, somewhere. I could never find anything after. It was frustrating.
My Solution
I looked around for a journal but could not find anything that really met my needs. So….I created my own book – An Artist’s Logbook.
This 6×9″ journal tracks 75 paintings, each with 2 dedicated pages. The first is for the painting’s name and details. It has half a page unlined where you can make a quick sketch. The second page is simply for whatever notes you want to make. This is where you make the journal yours.
The pages in this journal are numbered and in the front is a table of contents. This helps you find any specific painting later on.
In the back of the book are pages to note any shows or exhibitions your paintings are in. There are pages to track sales or gifts and there are pages to note any courses or workshops you have taken.
