My Favourite Paintings
Do You Have a Favourite Painting?
Do you have any favourite paintings? I mean ones that you painted. I have two. There are many that I like, that I feel are well done and that I am proud of. I have many of my paintings framed and hanging in the house. I painted my two favourites though, early on in my artistic journey. Neither are actually technically very well done but I like them. They make me happy, which is why I started painting in the first place
First Favourite
The first is a loose painting of a little side path around our lake. There was a small aspen tree leaning over the path, making a kind of archway. It caught my attention and imagination. What was around the bend? What story could I tell?
I used a limited palette for this one, but can’t remember why. It might have been a painting challenge of some kind.
This painting makes me so happy. I’m not sure why. It might be the bright cheerful colours. It might be the special memories and feelings it evokes, but I can’t help but smile when I look at it. I just love it.
I have this framed and hanging on the wall beside my side of the bed. Its the first thing I see when I get up Its just wonderful to wake up every morning and the first thing you see makes you smile
Second Favourite
The second painting is a small one, 5 x 7inches. Its a bluebird near a birdhouse that I pass on my morning walks. Again, its one of my early paintings and not really well done but I love it. I love the bright colours. I like how the sky and grass turned out and that was by pure accident. This one is unframed and sits on a small shelf in my living room during the summer. Most people don’t give it a second thought but it makes me smile.
Final Thoughts
There can be so much negativity in this world and it can sometimes take an effort to make the choice to think positively and be happy. I like to look for the little things that give me joy. I treasure them. It can change my whole outlook for the day. Whenever possible I do make the conscious choice to be happy
