Happy New Year
Happy New Year
I wish you all a Happy New Year. I did take a bit of a break over the holidays, doing only a little painting and no writing. Instead I worked on a jigsaw puzzle. This was a 1000 piece puzzle, of a scene in Paris. It was lovely but quite difficult. It took me 2 weeks to complete which is a long time for me. Jigsaw puzzles are so much fun, but the problem, for me anyway, is that they are addicting and nothing else gets done. I go to find just one or two pieces and the next thing I know is a couple of hours has passed by. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes doing something completely different for a bit is a good way to clear the head.

Rest and Reflection
This time of year for me, is also a good time to reflect – on the past year, on what I have accomplished or failed to accomplish and what I may want to do in the next year.
My accomplishments include publishing my books and this website – I can’t believe that they have all come about just this past year. I am proud of them all but most especially of My Friend Died and I Feel Sad. This book was a healing process for me and has also been part of healthy healing for others. I am so grateful for all the positive feedback I have received from it.

December for me is a rest month. I don’t push myself to walk everyday. Personal goals are basically forgotten. I often just spend most of my days reading and I think for me this is a good thing. I expect a lot from myself most of the year and a month long rest from personal expectations is a rest indeed. January is a new year, a new start and by this time I am rested and energized to get going. So hear we are. This year I admit I am a little slow getting started, but slow is better than no start at all.
I don’t like to make New Year Resolutions. I never keep them. Instead I like to plan my new year and set some goals. I like to divide those goals into measurable steps and check them off as I accomplish them. I may not always meet my goals but I usually make good progress towards them.
New Year Goals
This year I have a goal to write at least three more books. The ideas are in my head and it seems more than a reasonable goal. I also want to put myself out there a bit more and more regularly put posts of sample pages of my book on Facebook on the Lutheran Women Connecting. I also really enjoyed doing the Logan Lake Lions outdoor market and Christmas craft fairs and so plan on doing a few of the surrounding town fairs as well this coming summer and fall.
I hope for new and good things to happen to me this year and wish you all the best and hope new and wonderful things happen to each one of you as well.
Happy New Year!
